Being healthy doesn’t have to be hard

Many people want to make choices that will increase their energy, help them feel great in their body, and contribute to health and well-being. Health coaching combines nutritional expertise with principles of psychology and behavior to help achieve these outcomes.

My approach to health coaching is truly holistic. Too many approaches focus exclusively on macronutrient ratios, food restriction, and weight loss. Our sessions will place a heavier emphasis on the psychological tools that will help you identify, achieve, and maintain the health outcomes you desire. Our sessions may include:

  • A non-diet approach to eating, learning how to integrate foods you actually enjoy into healthy living

  • Challenging a restriction or diet mindset; understanding how under eating contributes to snacking, sugar cravings, and binges

  • Tools to help identify and reduce emotional eating/stress eating

  • Building mindful eating practices

  • Reconnect with hunger and fullness cues

  • Tools to manage intense cravings

  • Help you implement realistic, sustainable changes

  • Navigating setbacks

  • Discussions of cultural norms and societal expectations of food and health

NOTE: I am a certified nutrition coach

Health Coaching FAQs

  • Health coaching is a sub-discipline of psychology with an emphasis on human behavior and motivation. Health coaching focuses on helping individuals integrate healthy habits into their lives using cognitive tools, behavioral principles, and motivational tools.

  • Most health coaches will focus more on the how while nutritionists focus more on the what. A nutritionist will spend more time determining macronutrient targets, meal planning, and making specific food and supplest recommendations. Health coaches will spend more time helping you problem solve barriers to follow through and difficulties with motivation. NOTE: NOT ALL HEALTH COACHES ARE QUALIFIED TO PROVIDE SPECIFIC NUTRITION ADVICE. YOU SHOULD ASK YOUR HEALTH COACH ABOUT THEIR CREDENTIALS.

  • A non-diet approach isn’t a “free for all” nor is it anti-weight loss. It simply means ending the struggle with food. A non-diet approach doesnt villainize certain foods or view food as "bad" or "the enemy". According to a non-diet view of health, these very view points can contribute to the problems of emotional eating, binge eating, and cravings.
